Airport parking at any airport in the UK is expensive, getting to and from an airport yourself means in most cases you'll need to fork out between £50 and £100 per week for meet and greet parking services. If you are booking airport parking in advance you can save a lot of money, we advice advanced bookings on all airport parking to ensure you receive the best prices.
While there have been many problems through-out all airports with meet and greet parking, which in recent years has reached national news several times, in most cases the problems have been dealt with by the relevant airports, however in some cases large companies are still flouting the law with meet and greet services, it is something we witness with our customers at a couple of airports in the South of England. We can drive you to any airport in the UK, and we can drive you at an affordable rate, this can take the stress out of your holiday. If you are flying long haul, we can meet and greet you at the arrivals hall when you return back to the UK and we can assist you with your luggage, this will also help you reach home safely. Sometimes on your flights you might not get the sleep you need and then find yourself feeling very weary in your car while you drive back home. The various options you have when going on holiday vary from using our taxi service, to catching a national express coach, airport parking is very straight forward, but it is not as cheap as you might think, especially when you factor in the cost of your fuel and the general wear and tear of your vehicle.

All our cars are serviced every 10,000 miles, and keeping our taxis well maintained is important to us, we have managed to get exactly 100% of our customers to and from all UK airports and seaports on time. That is not true of the local railway service running from Weymouth and Upwey at all though.
We have train station permits and every month we witness severe delays and frequent cancellations of local trains, and on occasion passengers of the railways get caught out and end up missing their planes from Heathrow airport, Luton airport, Gatwick airport & London Stansted airport. On the 16th of October we received two last minute bookings from stranded customers who needed to be at the airport instantly. The trains that day had been cancelled and as a result of it the passengers we transferred were unable to make their flights at both Gatwick and Heathrow airport. We got them both to the airports and we quoted both customers prices that were over 20% less than they received from local firms that day, not only that but they all made check in and reached their final destination. We specialise in airport transfers, our drivers have a great deal of knowledge about the motorways and road networks between all airports that we have frequent bookings with daily. We have transferred thousands of people to airports and seaports since we began as a company in 2018. We strongly advise allowing extra time if you are travelling by train, as often delays occur and often trains are cancelled. Our advice is that if you have chosen to travel by train that you must be prepared to allow for problems between Dorset and your final destination. National express offer a great service from Poole and Bournemouth coach stations, and they are very reliable, but again we would advise you to allow for extra time when booking with anyone to reach your airport or seaport because traffic can cause severe delays. At Hill Taxis Weymouth, we offer competitive rates on all airport and seaport transfers, we offer comfortable and safe travel for between 1 and 8 passengers. Sometimes our fares are up to 50% off from meter rates set out by West Dorset District council. Airport and seaport transfers have never been easier than booking through us, our prices are very competitive and our service is second to none. There are two drivers doing airport and seaport transfers, and they both have years of motorway knowledge and years of driving to airports and seaports behind them. Nigel and James drive up and down Britain’s motorways every week transferring people to airports and seaports across the South of England.
We offer travel from between 1 passenger and up to 8 passengers per transfer, in either a Hyundai I40, a Ford Mondeo estate or a Ford Tourneo mini bus. All our cars are fully serviced every 10,000 miles, all our drivers are enhanced CRB checked and we carry first aid equipment in all our vehicles. In many cases we are cheaper than you transferring yourself in your own vehicle, the reason we say this is because you have fuel expenses and airport and seaport parking charges to contend with. If you are travelling in a group of people, we are far cheaper than the buses that transfer you to and from Britain’s airport and seaports. If you are travelling by train and you are in a group, we are again far cheaper than British trains when transferring from an airport or a seaport. Once you have booked with us, you have nothing to pay until you reach your destination, so you don’t need to make a deposit in order to secure a booking. Please read our terms and conditions and our frequently asked question to find out more, thank you. We started driving people in licensed taxis to airports and seaports on the 1st of July 2018. We have nearly been going a year now as a taxi transfer company and the business is going from strength to strength. The reason for this blog post is that we have now transferred just over 1000 people to airports across the United Kingdom. In addition to transferring over 1000 people to airports, every person made the check in at their airport on time and in an orderly and safe fashion.
As a company we have driven over 100,000 miles in the past 11 months, from transferring customers going on holiday by train to transferring customers flying from airports such as Heathrow and Gatwick. We witnessed drone attacks at Gatwick, we witnessed snow on the motorways to and from Heathrow and we have witnessed smaller things like a pigeon fly into the open window of one of our taxis and join the taxi transfer to Bridport momentarily. If you are travelling to London Heathrow, we advise leaving Dorchester or Weymouth at least six hours before your scheduled flight. You may not understand why we advise allowing at least six hours, but about 1 in every 10 transfers to Heathrow that we have completed, we have witnessed severe accidents which on occasion have closed the motorways completely. If you are flying from London Heathrow airport, you are advised by the airport to arrive at least three hours before your flight and while you can often make it through security quickly, there are regular hold ups which can cause delays at security points of upwards of 90 minutes. If you are travelling to London Gatwick, we advise leaving Dorchester or Weymouth at least 7 hours before your scheduled flight is due to depart the airport. The main route we chose to travel to Gatwick airport is the M25 and the M23, this particular stretch of the M25 is some of the busiest motorway in the United Kingdom and congestion can be very unpredictable and very common. While on a good journey to Gatwick we often arrive within two and a half hours of departing Dorchester or Weymouth, one journey took over 5 and a 1/2 hours due to an accident on the M23 and we have had many journeys to Gatwick which have taken over 4 hours to reach the airport. If you are travelling to Bristol airport, we advise leaving 5 hours before your scheduled flight from either Dorchester or Weymouth, the main reason for this is that at certain times Bristol airport is over used and under staffed. On many occasions we have witnessed ques at the departures hall of over 1000 people trying to check in and get through security. The airport is to small to handle the massive volumes of people who use the airport and on school holidays and in the summer time the airport frequently grinds to a halt. All our prices include the parking charges which our taxis have to pay to use the airport parking facilities, we also do not charge waiting times if your flight is delayed (unless you are delayed by more than 4 hours). The price we charge for airport transfers is a fixed twenty-four-hour rate, the price falls well below the tariffs set out by West Dorset district council and it is sometimes up to 50% off from the licensed taxi meter rate. To all the people who used a Hill Taxi for an airport transfer or a seaport transfer, we are very grateful for you using our service and thank you very much for allowing us to transfer you. Many people use seaport transfers to get them to cruise and ferry terminals across the whole of the United Kingdom. Hill Taxis has done many cruise transfers and the most popular seaport transfer is from West and South Dorset to Southampton cruise terminals.
From Dorchester a seaport transfer to Southampton cruise terminals is £75 and from Weymouth the price is £80, from Portland the price is £85 and from Bridport to Southampton cruise terminals the price is £90. While Southampton is most people’s first choice destination for seaport transfers from West and South Dorset, we have transferred people to Portsmouth, Plymouth, Avonmouth, Poole, Dover and Tilbury. There are no hidden charges with our seaport transfers, the price quoted to you is the price you pay, we include waiting times and parking in the price. When you return from your cruise we will meet and greet you at the arrivals hall and help transfer your luggage to the taxi. We understand that you will be given a boarding time and a disembarkation time when arriving and leaving the cruise ship and we will fit our service around those times to suit your own needs. Hill Taxis takes bookings up until one year in advance, and we understand that while you will not know the precise boarding time, we are able to work around the time you need to board your cruise ship. We advise calling Hill Taxis on 01305 457977 once you know your boarding times and then we can arrange and confirm a final pick up time with you. If your seaport transfer is slightly further away than Southampton, Portsmouth, Poole, Plymouth or Avonmouth then we suggest allowing yourself to arrive early at your cruise terminal or ferry terminal as traffic on all routes beyond those stated destinations is commonly heavily congested. When booking with us, we need various details from you, these details include the number of passengers travelling, the amount of luggage you require to take with you, the cruise ship name, an email address, a contact mobile telephone number or landline number, the name of the cruise ship and of course the name of the port you are disembarking from. If you would like a quote or if you would like to check our availability then you can call 01305 457977 or email us at info@hilltaxi.co.uk. |
